Factory Build Data for Volkswagen, Audi, Škoda, SEAT and CUPRA Now Available
VIN Analytics now offers vehicle data licensed directly from Volkswagen for Volkswagen Group vehicles. This gives owners, dealers and enthusiasts access to the factory configuration behind a VIN, not just what the VIN itself encodes.
The new coverage includes:
Coverage is global. We support Volkswagen Group vehicles in every market where they are sold, including brands and models that were never offered in the US, such as Škoda, SEAT, CUPRA and many Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle models.
What a VIN Can't Tell You
A standard VIN decoder reads the 17-character VIN and returns what's encoded in it: manufacturer, model year, body type and some powertrain details. But a VIN doesn't record every option, package or configuration choice made when the car was ordered.
That matters when you need to answer questions like:
- What equipment was actually installed on this specific vehicle?
- Which engine and transmission did it leave the factory with?
- What is the exact model or derivative?
- What exterior and interior configuration was originally specified?
- Which factory options or packages were fitted?
Answering those questions requires data from the manufacturer. Because our Volkswagen Group data is licensed, it reflects how the individual vehicle was actually built, not generalized decoding rules or aggregated third-party sources.
What's in a Report
Depending on the vehicle, a VIN Analytics report can include:
- Exact model and derivative
- Engine, transmission and drivetrain
- Factory equipment and options, including PR codes
- Exterior and interior configuration
- Technical specifications
- Production information (e.g. build date and plant)
The available data varies by brand, model year and market.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where does this data come from?
VIN Analytics licenses its Volkswagen Group vehicle data direct from Volkswagen. Reports reflect the factory configuration of the specific vehicle rather than general decoding rules.
Can I get an Audi or Volkswagen build sheet from a VIN?
Yes. Reports include the factory equipment and configuration data available for that VIN, which goes well beyond a basic decode.
Are Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles supported?
Yes. Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles (Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge) are supported through our Volkswagen VIN decoder.
What about Bentley and Lamborghini?
These brands are not included in this release, but may be added in the future.
How is this different from a free VIN decoder?
A free decoder interprets only what's encoded in the VIN. Factory data adds vehicle-specific detail the VIN doesn't contain, such as installed equipment, options and the original configuration.
